Samsung’s upcoming digital assistant, known as Viv, might not land on the Galaxy S8. The Register reports Google has requested Samsung avoid launching Viv with the phone since its release would clash with the introduction of Google Assistant, a similar service.
Google only wants the company to avoid launching the assistant on flagship Android devices. It may still be offered on Tizen products fairly soon.
Whether or not Samsung will go along with the request isn’t known. We’re only a few months away from seeing the Galaxy S8, so it should be clear pretty soon whether Viv is going to available.
