To prevent the Note 7’s battery from overheating, Samsung released an update in September to cap charging at 60%. Without reaching a more complete charge, the risk of battery problems is reduced, although functionality also takes a hit. That update is now headed to replacement Note 7 units in Australia, whereas it had previously just been out for original units.
All Australian replacement units that have yet to be sent back are receiving the update. If you own one of the phones, your unit will prevent itself from reaching a full charge.
The update downloads and installs automatically.
Samsung recommends every Note 7 be returned.
