Sprint and its sister network carriers Virgin Mobile and Boost will start offering the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge starting January 6.
The Galaxy J3 Emerge builds on its predecessor, the Galaxy J3 (2016), and sports updated internals. The 5″ 720p display remains intact, however. The Exynos 3475 Quad is scrapped in favor of an octa-core Snapdragon 430 chip with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
The camera setup is unchanged and the Galaxy J3 Emerge will boast 5MP primary camera at the back limited to 720p recording. At the front, there’s a 2MP selfie snapper. Under the back cover, there’s a 2,600mAh battery – same as the J3 (2016).
Nevertheless, the phone will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and thanks to the power-saving Doze feature should provide better battery performance.
Pricing is unknown at this point, but it’s expected to be below $200 on a contract.
