Microsoft Opening Up Skype To Talking Bots

Developers who are interested in taking their bots a step further will soon be able to release talking bots in Skype. Microsoft says it’s opening up the platform with the Skype calling API. Users will be able to interact with bots “that can actually speak to you.” Developers can already release text-based bots.

Other upcoming additions will eventually let bots interact during conversations with video, audio, and GIFs.

An exact launch date for those bots wasn’t shared, but they should be coming early in 2017. The launch of rich media card support may come later.
