Apple is reportedly going to cut down on its use of metal with the iPhone 8. The handset is said to use a new stainless steel frame and a glass back, making it somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone 4. The metal bezel will be made of stainless steel using a forging process to enhance its sturdiness and reduce costs and manufacturing time,
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, said in September 2016 that he believed the iPhone 8 may indeed utilize a stainless steel frame and glass back. He felt it was possible lower-end models would stick with aluminum.
