Neural machine translation is now playing a bigger role in Google Translate to make its machine-created translations more like those generated by humans. This update to the system will make translations in seven new languages more accurate and notably more human-like.
Translations to and from English in French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Turkish have all been improved. Google previously introduced this upgrade for Chinese to English translations.
With these languages, Google says 1/3 of its translations will be partly powered by the neural machine technology.
The primary change with this system is that Translate stops primarily translating word by word or phrase by phrase. It instead looks at entire sentences and creates translated sentences that make more sense.
