Map Maker, a service that lets people submit new information for Google Maps, is shutting down. Google has announced the app, which existed alongside the main Maps service, is already closing as of today. As of now, edits in Map Maker will no longer be available for moderation and won’t impact the site.
Google plans to integrate many of Map Maker’s features directly into Maps in the coming months. The integration will occur by March 2017, though Google hasn’t said which features will be lost during the transition. It’s possible edits will be more limited, giving users fewer ways to change what is displayed in Maps.
