Exposing a flaw in Google’s Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones could net you $200,000 as part of Google’s Project Zero Security Contest. The content runs from September 13 to March 14, 2017. During that time, hackers can receive cash prizes by hacking the phones knowing nothing more than a device’s phone number and email address.
The most interaction the hackers can utilize is having someone open an email in Gmail or an SMS text in Messenger. Bugs must be shown to work on both devices unless the contestant is exploiting a security feature that’s only found in one.
Whomever wins the competition will receive $200,000, while second place gets $100,000 and third place gets $50,000.
