Google has plans for Waze that go beyond its current use as a navigation app. Waze is reportedly going to add ride-sharing abilities in the fall, with people in the San Francisco region able to use the app to connect with passengers. A pilot program already exists for work-related carpooling.
If you want to get a ride, you’ll use Waze Rider and drivers will use the same app as usual. This service won’t function like Uber, meaning you can’t reliably order a ride, making it a more legitimate “ride-sharing” service.
