Apple Music doesn’t have as many paying users as Spotify, but it reportedly surpassed its biggest competitor in active users thanks to its free 3-month trial. Mobile analytics firm Verto claims the app had 40.7 million monthly mobile users in February 2017.
This was higher than Pandora’s 32.6 million and Spotify’s 30.4 million. Verto’s data is coming from 20,000 users across the US and UK, which is paired with analytics info.
If the numbers are accurate, Apple Music has surely been helped by its long free trial and presence on all iOS devices, a luxury Spotify doesn’t have.
