Just like it promised during the announcement of new iPhones and Watch Series 3, Apple has released the final stable version of its desktop operating system to users. The macOS 10.13 High Sierra is now available for download for free on the Mac App Store.
It is about 4.8 GB in size and brings various new features with improvements to the existing. There is a new APFS file system that replaces the HFS file system. The new file system has been designed with flash storage in mind. Moving on, there is the support for HEVC codec, a successor to the popular H.264 codec.
Other addition includes support for Metal 2, Apple’s proprietary low-level graphics API, improved machine learning capabilities with the addition of Core ML, Apple’s machine learning framework, Virtual Reality support, UI improvements to the Photos app and more.
