Motorola and Lenovo may be planning to release a Moto G5 series of smartphones less than a year after the Moto G4 family (which was introduced in May 2016). An unannounced handset that’s presented as the Moto G5 Plus is currently available to buy via OLX – a well-known online marketplace that’s seen as a non-US alternative to Craigslist.
The alleged Moto G5 Plus (model number XT1685) is being sold via OLX Romania, and the seller revealed various photos of it, plus a list of specs. The handset seemingly runs Android 7 Nougat, sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor. Furthermore, the phone comes with a fingerprint scanner, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, and a 3080 mAh battery. There’s a 13 MP camera on the back, while the front-facing selfie camera is a 5 MP one.
The Moto XT1685 is sold without accessories. The owner doesn’t say where he obtained the phone from, which is understandable, since the device has a “Motorola confidential property, not for sale” mark on it. According to the seller, the phone should be released in March. Right now, the handset’s price is of around $387 (most likely, this is not the official price).
Interestingly, this alleged Moto G5 Plus looks just like another unannounced smartphone that was recently presented as the Moto X (2017). Perhaps these are two different models that have a similar design (but different features), or maybe one of these two names is not accurate. Either way, the handset that we can all check out here looks real enough. We just have to wait and see what its official name will be.
